Six surfaces, one operating system.

ezylegal.ai is the AI-native legal practice platform for Australian firms and solo lawyers. Cases, pleadings, evidence, workflow steps, email intelligence — and Rachel, the autonomous AI paralegal. Built around AU practice rules, not retrofitted.

Rachel.

The autonomous AI paralegal that runs the back office.

Rachel works on every matter, in the background, in your firm's voice. She runs the intake, builds the brief, drafts the documents, replies to opposing counsel, manages deadlines and keeps clients updated. Every action she takes is grounded in the matter file and logged in the signed AI audit trail. Tier-3 actions (anything outbound to opposing counsel, anything that touches evidence) require your approval before they fire.

She doesn't sleep. She doesn't double-bill. She doesn't drop a 14-day Defence deadline. The only thing she doesn't do is stand up in court.

ezyBarrister.

Your AI research and drafting partner. Lawyer-driven chat with full case context.

Where Rachel acts, ezyBarrister advises. Open it when you want to work alongside an AI: generate a Statement of Claim with a chosen tone, ask for case-law research, review evidence gaps, identify legal issues. ezyBarrister sees everything the matter file contains — facts, brief paragraphs, pleadings, files, participants, AU case law — and grounds every output in that context. You stay in the chair.

  • Full case context — facts, brief paragraphs, pleadings, files, participants, AU case law
  • Suggested actions — strengths/weaknesses, evidence gaps, next steps, legal-issue ID
  • Document generation — Statement of Claim, Defence, Affidavit, Letter of Demand, Submissions
  • Tone control — Firm but Proportionate, Aggressive, Conciliatory, Formal & Neutral
  • Reference picker with citation headnotes and verification status
  • Conversation history persisted per matter; pinnable threads

Cases & pleadings.

Structured case management. Real entities — Cases, Pleadings, Brief Paragraphs.

The file is the source of truth for every other surface. Each case has a structured lifecycle, a typed pleading editor with paragraph-by-paragraph response types (Admit · Deny · Do Not Admit · Not Applicable), and a numbered brief paragraph stream that ties evidence to narrative. AU-aware from the schema up — jurisdictions, case types, court fields are all real fields, not free-text tags.

  • Case lifecycle — Pending Review · Open · In Progress · Discovery · Negotiation · Hearing · Closed
  • Pleading types — Statement of Claim, Defence, Reply, Counterclaim, Affidavit, Application
  • Paragraph-by-paragraph editor with response types: Admit · Deny · Do Not Admit · Not Applicable
  • Evidence linking per paragraph (which file, which page, which fact)
  • AU jurisdictions — NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, NT, ACT, Federal
  • Litigation areas — Family Law, Consumer Law, Commercial / Property / Employment Disputes, Personal Injury, Debt Recovery, Insurance Disputes

Facts & evidence.

Every uploaded file becomes a searchable, page-anchored fact source.

Files are parsed, deduplicated and embedded into a per-matter retrieval index. Rachel extracts dated facts with confidence scores; you accept or dismiss them. Each fact is anchored to the page it came from — not floating, not paraphrased. Disclosure status (Privileged · Disclosable) and source tagging (Our Side · Client Upload · Opposing Party · Court) carry through every downstream surface, so an opposing party's claim never sneaks into your brief by accident.

  • Auto-extraction — every uploaded file is parsed, deduplicated, embedded for retrieval
  • Suggested facts with confidence scores; you accept or dismiss
  • Categories — Key Event, Legal, Financial, Person, Document, Communication
  • Evidence pinning — link a fact to the page it came from
  • Disclosure status — Privileged · Disclosable · Quarantined
  • Source tagging — Our Side · Client Upload · Opposing Party · Court · Third Party
  • Bookmarking, main-fact promotion, and stub-fact handling for image-only PDFs

Steps.

AU-rules-aware workflow. Court deadlines, correspondence, file notes, expert reports, financial.

Steps are the typed task system that runs every matter forward. Each step has a category, an assignee (lawyer · client · paralegal · Rachel · specific participant), a status, a due date and a client-visibility toggle. Court Documents steps drive the "Upcoming Court Deadlines" panel on the dashboard. Rachel watches every step on every matter and flags the ones drifting toward overdue before they get there.

  • Categories tuned for AU practice — Court Documents · Correspondence · File Notes · Expert Reports · Financial
  • Sub-statuses for filings — Draft · Filed · Sealed · Other
  • Assignees — Lawyer · Client · Paralegal · AI Paralegal (Rachel) · specific participant
  • Status — Pending · In Progress · Completed · Overdue (with auto-flagging)
  • Per-step client visibility toggle (some are internal only)
  • Importance — High · Routine · Silent (silent steps don't buzz the dashboard)
  • Step attachments link directly into the case file system

Email intelligence.

M365 inbox sync, auto-routing, RFC 5322 threading, AI alerts.

Rachel reads every lawyer's M365 inbox in real time. Mail is auto-routed to the right matter via sender match, case-number regex and conversation-ID tracking. RFC 5322 headers are honoured so threads don't fragment. Once an email is on the matter, AI analysis classifies what's in it — claims, deadlines, admissions, settlement signals, escalation language — and surfaces alerts at the right severity. Rachel can draft replies grounded in your case facts; you review, edit, send.

  • M365 inbox sync per lawyer — Mail.Read + Mail.ReadWrite scopes
  • Auto-routing to the right matter via sender, case-number regex, conversation-ID tracking
  • RFC 5322 threading via Message-ID + In-Reply-To + References — proper mail threads
  • AI alerts — Deadline · Admission · Inconsistency · Settlement Signal · Escalation · New Claim
  • Severity classes — Low · Medium · High · Critical
  • Email-to-evidence import — attachment auto-processing into the matter's file system
  • Auto-responder — Rachel can draft and (with approval) send replies grounded in the case file

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How are the six surfaces priced?
One platform, one price. Pay when you get paid. There are no per-surface tiers, no add-on modules, no enterprise plan. Every surface is included.
Can I use just some of the surfaces?
Yes. The platform is integrated but not coupling — you can run a matter using just Cases + Steps + Email and never touch ezyBarrister, or you can lean on Rachel for everything. Most firms grow into the platform surface by surface.
How does Rachel decide when to act vs ask?
Tier 1 actions (extracting facts, flagging deadlines, classifying email) run automatically. Tier 2 actions (drafting client updates, suggesting steps) surface for review. Tier 3 actions (sending email to opposing counsel, deleting evidence, large outbound comms) require explicit lawyer approval before they fire. Every action — auto or approved — is logged in the signed AI audit trail.
Do you store our M365 mailbox?
No. Rachel reads mailbox content via the Microsoft Graph API in real time and processes context against the matter file. The mailbox itself stays in the customer's Microsoft tenant. We store the parsed CaseEmail metadata + AI analysis blob, not the raw inbox.
